| Details | This entry offers to introduce the main Mayan títulos. These documents were written in indigenous languages throughout the colonial period. Their original purpose was to assert rights to exercise power over the land before they became tools to prove the legitimacy of village borders, used during land conflicts. They are evidence of the long history of land occupation. For each document cited, the following will be noted: the date of production, the content and information on where to find the original manuscripts, and the bibliographic reference for published documents. |
