Details This study was conducted with first-year undergraduate student collaborators who were just beginning to learn about quotations, using a
qualitative study of their attitudes toward writing with quotations.
In addition to citation awareness from prior research, this paper presents three possibilities: 1) first-year students
citing previous research as a "collection of materials," and 2) they are not able to cite without problems right away.
3) They may be conscious of the fact that they want to use indirect quotations in their writing.
3) Students may have a positive attitude toward writing texts using indirect quotations.
