Details	中国は、南シナ海では悪漢で問題国であると著者は強調し、中国に対する排除、封じ込め的な議論を展開した。確かにその側面もあるが、経済的相互依存状況を軽視または無視していると指摘した。たとえば、中国は日本の最大級の貿易相手国である。中国を排除するのではなく、地域的取り決めの中に取り込むほうが良いのではと論じた。例えば、インド洋の海上輸送路の安全確保では、協調行動が可能であり、また相互利益にかなうと指摘した。
