Details Sustainable tourism is the concept of visiting a place as a tourist and trying to make only a positive impact on the environment, society, and economy. In this lecture I examined and explained the types of tourism which fall into this category, the history of the idea that we can make a positive impact while on holiday, and trends in the field. As students and teachers at the University of Foreign Studies, we can - and should - promote the idea that our interactions with other places in the world can enrich both ourselves as well as the areas and communities that we visit. Tourism can be a win-win if it is done in a responsible way. That being said, there are many challenges ahead, with increasing numbers of people traveling around the world day be day and year by year. It is currently estimated that aspects of the travel and tourism industries account for up to ten percent of the global economy.
