概要 | Foreign language students sometimes report experiencing anxiety in the classroom, either facilitative or debilitative. The existence of the latter type, which hinders student participation and learning, places an onus on researchers to develop insights into its causes and devise strategies to alleviate the problem. This report, focusing on the possible role played by teaching methodology, represents a small step in that direction. It sets out to classify the features of some commonly used classroom tasks and point to a possible direction for future research. In all, four distinct task types are identified and discussed with regard to their potential relative effects on anxiety. |
