概要 | Until recent years there has apparently been little debate among researchers as to the merits of relying mainly on traditional methods of assessment such as grammar and vocabulary quizzes in the foreign or second language classroom. A wider acceptance of the particular importance of communicative competence, including emphasis on fluency at least as much as accuracy, is leading to a movement away from evaluating students in this way. It is becoming apparent that alternative forms of assessment more accurately reflect the focus of language classes and therefore are likely to seem more valid to both students and teachers. This report explores various alternative methods and how they can be applied. |
