概要 | As a result of flexible military use of the railroads in the Civil War, the USMRR (United States Military Railroads) operated a total of 2,105 miles of railroad at the end of the war. At that time, the U.S. railroad network had about 35,000 miles of track, so this figure of 2,105 miles is only 6 percent of that total. It is difficult to believe that the USMRR could have had a national integration effect with such a small percentage of the total railroads. |
