| 概要 | Content-led and content-integrated courses have dual-goal objectives in which an L2 is the means of instruction rather than its sole object, and language learning may be a concurrent or lesser goal. With a drive toward globalization in education, increasing numbers of teachers are being asked to teach subject courses in English to non-native speakers. Other teachers may wish simply to introduce their students to needs-appropriate materials rather than
using mass-produced EFL textbooks. Although there are obvious educational advantages to such classes, it can be challenging for teachers and students to handle subject matter appropriately in a foreign language. Drawing on literature and the writer’s experience, this paper will describe the current landscape of content teaching in ESL/EFL contexts and will introduce ideas for teachers to prepare materials more effectively for classes that emphasize content. |
