概要	This study examines how firm strategies influence the choice between partial and full acquisitions in cross-border deals. Using a sample of Japanese acquirers classified as prospectors, defenders, or analysers, we draw on transaction cost economics, the strategic capability perspective, and the strategic cognition perspective. The results show that both prospectors and analysers tend to prefer full acquisitions, while defenders lean toward partial acquisitions. The findings highlight that strategy plays a meaningful role in acquisition behavior and that managers should consider potential partner opportunism and their own firm capabilities when deciding between partial and full acquisitions.
