| 概要 | This article examines how professional development (PD) for language teachers expanded and transformed during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on online and community-based models. It categorizes PD into three main forms: institutional communities of practice, professional organizations, and social media–based learning networks. Drawing on examples from Japanese higher education, the authors show how technology-mediated communities supported teachers’ technical, pedagogical, and emotional needs during emergency remote teaching. The study argues that online and hybrid PD models increased inclusivity and access, suggesting they should remain a permanent component of post-pandemic professional development. https://www.doi.org/10.69732/WQUE5728 |
