Title "Intelligence Failure" in the Tet Offensive

Details The Tet Offensive at the end of January 1968 marked the beginning of the US withdrawal from Vietnam. This article, adopting international history studies approach, examines why the US intelligence failed to predict the offensive. First, it discusses how North Vietnam decided to launch the attack against the demands of the two communist major powers, the Soviet Union and China. Then, it discusses how the US intelligence analyzed the North Vietnam’s decision making process and reveals the factors that led to the intelligence failure.
