Details Based on recently declassified documents, this book examines what role CIA’s intelligence analysis and its covert operations played in the Truman administration’s Cold War strategy. It reveals that CIA’s intelligence analysis was only partially used by policy-makers while its covert operations expanded contrary to CIA’s top officials’ protest. Considering the background, this book argues that CIA is placed in a difficult position in the US foreign policy-making circle.
