Details In this article, age, gender, and cross-national differences in children ages 9 through 16 in Japan and the United States were examined on four bipolar temperament styles: extroversion-introversion, practical-imaginative, thinking-feeling, and organized-flexible. Gender and age differences are apparent on organized-flexible styles. Cross-national differences are found only on extroverted-introverted and practical-imaginative styles. In contrast to children in the U.S., those in Japan are more likely to prefer extroverted and practical styles.
