Details | In this paper the author uses the example of the combination of German and Japanese to examine what differences there are between Japan and Germany when assessing multilingual competence. In the following sections the author outlines some basic aspects of multilingual competence and discuss the specificities of the combination of Japanese and German. An analysis of a random survey on bilingual competence in Japan is presented in order to clarify the impact of bilingual education on families and individuals concerned. The results are then summarised and conclusions are drawn. |
