Details This monograph’s purpose is to assist Soviet hoteliers and future hotel investors and operators in understanding the strategic planning process. Given the tumultuous and transitional nature of reform, the questions asked are those that every Soviet hotelier is likely asking himself – or should be. That is, what is happening in my external operating environment? What is it that my hotel does particularly well or poorly? What are my hotel’s goals? How do I strategically plan for the future? This paper is important for operators and investors as it incorporates the advantages of the strategic planning process into an analytical framework while exploring the ramifications of change in a highly centralized system.
