概要 | A proposal for a mixed syllabus (task-based, situational, functional-notional) that aims to improve junior high school students’ proficiency in oral communication (listening, speaking, and overcoming language barriers by using conversational strategies). The syllabus described is divided into four units: hobbies, likes and dislikes, family, and everyday life and is taught over a semester (14 weeks) and are taught in two class segments over a three-week period with an oral test at the end of each unit. As there are very few opportunities to practice these skills apart from class time, a language partner system is incorporated that involves international students and Japanese students in Ritsumeikan junior and senior high school meetings six times and recording what they learned (self-reflection). |
