Details The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of TTS synthesized speech on learners' presentation anxiety and self-efficacy. Sixty-three university students who practiced presentations using TTS synthesized speech of native English speakers and Japanese English speakers were surveyed, and an analysis of variance was conducted. The results showed that learners' anxiety was reduced and their self-efficacy was improved by practicing with TTS synthetic speech, suggesting that learners' anxiety was reduced more in the lower proficiency level group than in the higher proficiency level group, and more with TTS synthetic speech by native English speakers than by Japanese English speakers.
