Details The learning of vocabulary is an important but often neglected area of university teaching. In line with similar strategies from EFL teaching, the "vocabulary challenge" tries to integrate the extra-curricular memorization of vocabulary in the sense of Active Learning into the classroom. In order to analyze the results, five DaF teachers in Japan conducted protocols and surveys on the VC independently at their respective universities. The results of the joint action research project are presented in this study.
