Details This paper takes up the theme of environmental education set out during the 1992 Earth Summit, and argues that educators, whose responsibilities include guiding students to becoming more responsible, contributing members of society, therefore have an obligation to help their students in navigating these existential crises.
As a contribution to this process, this paper presents a number of practical examples of how educators can start leading by example so that they can be part of the change they want for their students – to be good global citizens. It also presents ideas for utilizing task-based learning and finally community engagement within courses, which in turn, can help foster a deeper understanding and motivation with the students towards earth-friendly habits and actions.
