Details | This episode of the historical walk that started at the bottom of the stone steps of Yasaka Shrine “Gion Ishidan-shita” at the east end of Shijo-dori is Kiyamachi-dori. The intersection of Shijo-dori and Kiyamachi-dori is located between the two downtown areas of Gion and Shinkyogoku, but there are very few photographic postcards of the place. Here, two of them are hand-colored photographs, and postcards are used as the subject to explain the Shijo Kiya Town at the end of the Meiji era and the early Taisho period. The two postcards are thought to have been fired by the same photographer. |
