Details In order to clarify the relationship between group cohesion and academic performance in the context of second‐language education, this study (a) examines the multidimensional nature of cohesion, (b) investigates the specific links between its four constructs—social cohesion, affective bonding, role empathy, and shared goals—and academic outcomes, and (c) analyzes longitudinal changes in these variables. Participants were two first‐year university groups (N = 32) enrolled in a Spanish conversation course. A mixed‐methods design was employed, combining qualitative (observations, interviews) and quantitative (survey statistics) analyses.
