Details This paper examines the impact of a community-based picture book reading activity in foreign languages conducted by foreign language majors as an extracurricular program grounded in the principles of plurilingualism and pluriculturalism. In local institutions such as after-school centers and nursing homes, students introduced multiple cultures through picture book readings and related activities. Interviews with participants revealed that engaging in socially contributive activities using their linguistic and cultural resources not only fostered a sense of self-efficacy and a deeper awareness of the social significance of such initiatives. It provided insights into new directions for foreign language education.
