Details With the development of more advanced computers and modeling techniques, we believe that the study of artificial societies can facilitate the exploration of the approaches to achieve sustainable development. The solution to the problem of sustainable development of human society requires that society and the environment in which it is located be viewed as an integrated whole, i.e., a social-ecological system. In this system, there are complex interactions between society and the environment. In this work, we use a transition system to describe the behavior of social systems. We distinguish four states of human society along two dimensions and define the transitions between these states. Our definition can be implemented in future computational or mathematical models of artificial societies.
