Details In the field of innovation and creativity, the conventional wisdom is that true innovation inherently contains an element of destruction, and that we should therefore foster creativity while constraining its potentially destructive consequences. This study challenges this view, arguing that creativity and destructiveness are two inextricably intertwined facets that are at the core of the innovation process. In this study, we propose that destructive outcomes do not necessarily translate into social disharmony.
To provide empirical support for our hypotheses, we introduce opinion dynamics models that explore the social impacts of co-creative communication, in which individual and dominant views are challenged and potentially replaced through misunderstandings and critical thinking. Our presentation aims to provide a new perspective on the link between innovation, destruction and social harmony.
