Details | Poster Presentation at Consortium Kyoto on February 23 2024. Community interpreting aids foreign residents who struggle to access public services due to language barriers. Kyoto University of Foreign Studies introduced 'Special Lecture on Community Interpreting I' in 2022 to prepare students for roles in multicultural societies. The course, the first of its kind at the university, has enrolled 44 students across two academic years. This report discusses the course's implementation, its benefits for students, and future challenges for educators while also considering the relevance of human interpreters in an age where AI language assistance is prevalent. |
