概要	Because many Japanese students have few chances to use English in real-life communicative situations, they might benefit from instruction which requires them to actively seek out opportunities. Such instruction could include steps to motivate students to do research of their choice, to teach an awareness of learning strategies and to develop interpersonal skills to boost self-confidence. This article first describes what is needed to motivate students to conduct interviews as the medium of instruction and the tools needed to help them cope with face-to-face communication. After this, the methodology of the interview project that I developed is presented. The findings point to the possibility of providing learners with other ways to develop their English and of expanding their scope beyond the limitations of the classroom.
