概要 | n my experience, the notion that native EFL teachers should adopt an “English only” policy in the university classroom appears to remain virtually unquestioned. No doubt this is a part of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) orthodoxy, but to what extent it enjoys universal support is debatable, however. These days, increasing numbers of teachers and researchers are questioning the validity of the assumption that mother tongue (MT) usage impedes successful second language (L2) learning. In fact, evidence suggests that depending on the class, there may be a place for limited MT use in the classroom. |
