| Details | This paper examines a proposed study aimed at clarifying how rubrics are used in L2 academic writing classes at Japanese universities and why they play an important role. It argues that rubrics are central to university writing instruction and that their design must reflect the learning objectives of the course. The paper suggests that the proposed research will serve as a starting point for investigating both the positive and negative effects of rubric use in academic writing instruction. |
