Details This edited volume brings together theoretical and practical research on English as an Additional Language (EAL) education. I served as the main editor and oversaw the overall structure and development of the book. All chapters are peer-reviewed and together provide up-to-date perspectives on vocabulary, reading, and classroom pedagogy in EAL contexts.

Chapter 1 introduces EAL learners and outlines contemporary approaches to supporting them in the classroom. I am responsible for 12 pages as the author of Chapter 1 (“Contemporary Approaches to EAL Education,” pp. 2–13).

Chapter 3 reports an exploratory study of 31 learners at a Japanese international school, examining links between vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension. I contributed 24 pages as co-author of Chapter 3 (pp. 35–58).
