| Details | To deepen understanding of vocabulary used in oral presentations, this study analyzes the lexical diversity of 22 unprepared and prepared presentations delivered by 11 first-year university students. Lexical diversity was measured using three indices and compared with learners’ vocabulary knowledge. Although vocabulary knowledge was positively correlated with lexical diversity across all presentations, statistically significant correlations were found only in unprepared presentations (τ = 0.55, p = .004; τ = 0.40, p = .046). The study concludes that teachers need to provide sustained instruction on how to increase lexical diversity in student presentations. |
