概要 | Abstract
In an effort to improve students’ English skills, Chile has introduced several changes to its EFL curriculum. Among them, language learning strategies have arisen as a way to foster students’ autonomy, aiming to motivation and success. Since data about strategy use in secondary level in Chile is scarce, this study focused on identifying the reported use of language learning strategies by EFL secondary students in Santiago de Chile, its relationship with proficiency, and the possible differences between a private school and a subsidized school. Results showed that participants have a medium frequency strategy use and that there is a strong correlation between proficiency and the use of cognitive and metacognitive strategies. However, no significant differences concerning context and frequency strategy use were observed. |
