概要 | One major component of promoting self-regulated learning (SRL) is to have students track and record their language learning activities. However, most tracking systems are primarily used for one particular skill or program, and there is often no place for students to comment and reflect on their own learning. Thus, it can be difficult to get an overall picture of how and what students are studying on a regular basis.
This study looked at how university language students spent their time studying during one semester. The results were assessed in three ways: first, using Zimmerman’s cyclical model of SRL (2003) to evaluate student responses to pre- and post-study questionnaires, which in turn were largely influenced by Pintrich’s conceptual framework for assessing motivation and SRL (2004). Second, the trackers from the students were examined to determine what, where, and how long they were studying. The third part evaluated the information received from the students, in both pre- and post-survey interviews, as well as their written reflections from their trackers. The researcher will present the results and discuss how they can impact students and teachers, especially in regards to promoting SRL both in and out of the classroom. |
