概要 | This study attempts to examine how teaching experiences as extracurricular program helps trainee teachers learn to teach EFL and how this learning-in-practice experience shapes their identities as EFL teachers and community members, as well as trainee teachers, using ethnographic method.By analyzing not only narrated identities but also their practiced identities, the study found the development of multiple identities and the inter-wined relationship between pre-teachers’ identity formation and their changing practice. Their pre-existing identity as teacher trainees transformed into different ones, they came to see themselves as teachers by playing a role of a teacher for the pupils, and they contributed to group activities differently by acting different roles in the community. Their practice (learning-in-experience) contributes to the development of three types of identities and the emerging identities also influence their practice, but in qualitatively different manners between individual cases. |
