概要 | Performance-based assessment, which provides language students with opportunities to show how effectively they can apply communicative skills in a practical sense rather than simply what they know about English, is increasingly popular among faculty these days. We decided to implement end of semester surveys to investigate how our Oral Communication students felt about this approach to assessment. They were assessed primarily according to their performance in presentations and group discussions. Results revealed clear evidence of perceived benefits, particularly in terms of motivation, among the majority of respondents, confirming our impression that students felt this to be a highly appropriate approach. |
