概要 | Test taking can play an important role in developing student confidence by developing a sense of progress. Furthermore, working in the context of a university focused on foreign studies, helping students achieve improved scores for standardized tests for the purpose of study abroad, such as TOEFL, is often necessary. This semester, I began teaching one such course. In order to provide students with a course which not only met the need to improve test scores, but also improved their broader critical thinking skills, I researched a variety of approaches. The most promising approach I found was the development of student-generated questions. There was significant data suggesting that this approach would meet both of the student needs. For this presentation I will outline my research-based approach to developing this course and also discuss the action research aspect of the course. I will also provide some interim data on student perceptions of the approach and hold a discourse on the approach. While data collection is ongoing, this presentation will provide some insight into applying this method on other contexts. |
