概要 | This study details how an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) curriculum centered on the Sustainable Development Goals was created and implemented at a Japanese university. In 2019, the Faculty of Policy Studies at a university in Western Japan decided to revamp its undergraduate and graduate curriculum and focus on offering most courses in English. Students wishing to pursue courses in international affairs, public policy, or media studies must be able to write, speak, and attend lectures in English, with minimal Japanese language support. To be prepared, students must enroll in a rigorous EAP program focused on Sustainable Development Goals themes during their first two years of undergraduate study. This paper describes the curriculum development process and its successes and failures after one year of implementation. The focus is on how the increase in her SDG, socially relevant content, was perceived by students and teachers and how it affected students' academic development. |
