| 概要 | The main focus was to co-present with my colleague and research partner Aaron Campbell on certain aspects of English as used in the media, with a particular focus on difference in usage between British and American English. We were able to demonstrate to the other attendees that there are distinct differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, meaning and contextual styling between the two dialects of the same tongue. Understanding of these differences is essential for good communication, even between native speakers of the same language, and can often be a minefield for learners of English as a second or foreign language.
