概要 | Carvalho (2012) revealed that Japanese students’ epistemological beliefs about second language learningcan be categorized into 5 factors. Based on those results, I have been developing an integrated communicative approach to teaching Portuguese using a Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) classroom in which the focus of theclasses is on 1) Enhancing students’ communication skills and confidence through phonetic training andintensive conversation practices; 2) Making students aware of their own beliefs about language learning; 3)Teaching study methodologies that are in accordance to students’ epistemological beliefs and cognitive styles;and 4) Boosting students’ motivation to learn by introducing cultural topics using songs and literature. |
