概要 | Many small- and medium-sized hotels in the local lodging industry prioritize maintaining their unique business models in a small or medium size rather than pursuing revenue or size growth.
Conceptualizing this tendency of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as small business orientation (SBO), Runyan et al. (2008) argue that many SMEs emphasize long-term commitment to their business, stable relationships with special customers, mutual benefit with local communities, and employee welfare. Based on the SBO framework, this paper attempts to examine how local lodging companies in Kyoto tend to avoid growth while preserving their unique business model in the long term through regression analysis. The findings indicate that several local lodging companies have been operating for over 50 years, demonstrating their commitment to long-term sustainability. Additionally, a significant number of these companies have remained focused on the lodging business. |
