概要 Presented to Kyoto City Board of Education Junior High School Japanese Teachers of English (JTEs). This presentation focused on "Team Teaching via the Communicative Approach: Communicative Language Teaching". This presentation explained how to use communicative language teaching to apply the theoretical perspective of the communicative approach by making communicative competence the goal of language teaching and understanding that language and communication are interdependent. Second language (L2) teachers, especially in EFL settings like Japan, have to realize that our students (foreign language learners) need more than a ‘fixed set and repertoire’ of linguistic forms (e.g., the structural view of language). Thus, L2 teachers must also give their students opportunities to develop strategies for interpreting language in actual real-life, real-world use because the relationship between form and function is variable and can’t be predicted outside specific situations in the real- world. This presentation described such a theory and approach.
