Details The presentation considers the relationship between morality and education in Japan. To this end, I will analyze the Education for Sustainable Development in Japan through cultural perspectives. While the SDGs and ESD are getting a lot of attention under the state of emergency, thanks to mass media, especially environmental or economic aspects, perspectives of cultural politics seem to be neglected. Japanese government has promoted ESD that incorporated the concept of citizenship education, however, we have not even reached consensus on what the citizenship education is and even what is the citizenship or who is citizen. Given that a pandemic moral panic is global urgent matters, we need to see the cultural responses to reconsider the education.
