Details | Does building a Self-Access Learning Center (SALC) in a tertiary language center guarantee usage? Most students, although required to learn English, do not appear to be motivated to improve their abilities in English outside of the classroom. Students who have had little to no access to such a facility in their previous language learning environments struggle to use the SALC in any capacity. In this research project, several classes of second-year university students were asked to track their total English usage and study habits, including SALC usage. The study also examined students' beliefs about their own language abilities and the amount of time they actually studied outside the classroom. |
