Details | A case study from the research project ‘Routes to Music’ documenting the musical life-path of individuals, this paper gives an overview of the project author's own musical journey and song-related research, with particular reference to the influence of overseas experience in the gradual development of the oevre. Focusing on song, it reflects upon social, educational, political and cultural influences on repertoire, skills and attitudes; describes applications and receptions of song in the work of a language teacher and community music participant/facilitator, and explains several song-related research projects as a means to cross-cultural understanding. |
