Details | This paper is an in-progress report of the creation and use of three vocabulary databases from United Nations documents, reports of international NGOs, and international English newspaper articles to support the vocabulary learning and reading skill development of students in the Department of Global Affairs at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. The databases are being used to create mobile assisted language learning (MALL) word lists for International Studies courses and learning modules to be used on mobile devices such as cell phones and tablet PCs. The learning modules are based on texts created from materials in the three databases. Readability indexes are used to assess the texts. Research will be conducted to discover how often, and how, students use the MALL learning materials. |
