Details | The epic interpretation and the supposed democratization of the component elements of the Brazilian bandeirantes, as well as the romantic and Eurocentric approach in the characterization of the Argentine gaucho in literature, show a too simplistic and folkloric image of the reality of the São Paulo exploration companies and the role of the gaucho in the border areas. This paper intends to show the similarities and differences between both processes of literary mythology, as well as their degree of success in the construction of a national identity. |
