Details | My presentation will outline methodology and teaching methods when tackling sensitive issues of peace and conflict with students from different nationalities. In teaching a class in Japan issues such as the use of nuclear weapons will be touched on and such delicate topics require very sensitive teaching instruction. By using materials designed to illustrate the difficulties arising from times of intense conflict the class is able to grasp the subtleties and problems surrounding these issues. I will also draw attention to how certain philosophical readings can also shine a light on peace and conflict and illuminate key concepts such as how and why conflict occurs and how to resolve such issues. |
