Details | SDG 16 promotes Peace and Justice processes for which I have chosen the area of Peace Education. Peace Education methodology involves questions of inquiry into how peace can be attained, whether inner peace, as in our individual cognitive beliefs and reasoning, or outer peace in peaceful action in societies and the wider world. It investigates human security, human rights, conflict resolution, gender perspectives and structural violence amongst other areas of concern. I have chosen in my study to focus on the philosopher and ancient teacher Epictetus. I will illustrate how the teachings of Epictetus can be applied to the theory and active practice of peace education and how they are a robust guide to attaining inner and outer peace. |
