| Details | Since the 1978 Constitution and Spain’s process of autonomous decentralization, the legal and social recognition of Asturian has progressively increased. The Statute of Autonomy of Asturias (1981) establishes its protection and promotion, and Law 1/1998 encourages its use in education, the media, and respect for its variants, even though it is not yet an official language. Its presence in the education system has grown significantly, with wide implementation in secondary and upper-secondary education. At the same time, Asturian has entered an expansive phase in social and cultural domains, particularly in its written form. This paper analyzes legal discourse based on Bernstein’s distinction between instructional and regulative discourse and examines written Asturian from a sociocultural perspective. |
