Details | The paper reports the impact of teaching project on student teachers in EFL teacher training program. Three Japanese university students were chosen to examine longitudinally their development patterns during two year teaching experience in an elementary school as a volunteer. The analysis focuses volunteered to join an extracurricular teaching project. Semi-structured interviews were conducted in the middle of the program and at the end of the program. The results revealed that three types of identities emerged through a year of learning-in-practice experience: student teachers, EFL teachers for young learners and members of a practice community. Finally implications about the effectiveness of on-site training should be proposed as part of L2 teacher training program. |
