概要	This presentation explored the personal journey of a non-native English-speaking teacher (NNEST) from Chile, reflecting on the challenges of navigating Japan’s educational system and the professional barriers encountered along the way. With an early passion for languages, shaped by a family background in education and enriched by international experiences, the speaker entered a teaching path that includes both Chile and Japan. However, transitioning from her home country to Japan’s education system brought unexpected obstacles: job-hunting difficulties due to visa limitations and biases against non-native teachers, the struggle to balance career and motherhood, and a lack of confidence when facing the academic community. Through these reflections, the presentation highlighted common mistakes, such as rushing into jobs without considering long-term goals, not pursuing academic publications, and underestimating the importance of self-worth as a professional. The speaker shared key lessons learned and provided strategies for overcoming these barriers, inspiring NNESTs and educators alike to persevere and take advantage of their unique experiences for both personal and professional growth.
